INNKEEPER BIOGRAPHY

The Champaign Garden Inn is a family owned and operated business. Our passion is to ensure that you absolutely love your stay. As your Innkeepers, we would like to tell you a little about ourselves.

Kevin Allen, Innkeeper: I’ve been in the hospitality industry most of my professional life. I started as a busboy in a Champaign restaurant, then relocated to California in my twenties where I eventually became the Innkeeper at the Rose Garden Inn in Berkeley. While in California I met my hubby, Daniel. I had always wanted to have my own B&B, and about 10 years ago, on a trip to Illinois, we decided to look at this huge old Victorian that I had seen online. We fell it love, and it wasn’t long before we had purchased it and were planning to open the Champaign Garden Inn.

I have put my 30+ years of hotel experience to use tailoring each decision we have made to ensure our guests’ maximum comfort and safety. From the selection of the beds and linens, to the finishes in the room and the keyless main entry. Our approach has proven successful, as we will soon celebrate our 10th anniversary and have review scores that are among the highest in town. I look forward to welcoming you soon, and hope you will become on of our newest regular guests.

Kathy Menzies (Mom, Mom-in-law), Resident Hostess: Kathy (Daniel’s Mom) moved here into the Inn a few years ago, following her only son Daniel to Illinois. Kathy retired from her long career as a bookkeeper (other than doing the books for the Inn), and is now resident hostess at the Inn. She keeps everything neat and in good order, and prides herself in always being in the height of fashion.

Daniel Menzies (the hubby): Daniel’s title should really be “Married to the Inn”. Although he works full time for the University, he still finds time to work in the background ensuring everything runs smoothly. From designing communication to helping clean, Daniel does an excellent job on the part-time job he never applied for.

The rooms are always spotless and comfortable. Plenty of water, coffee, tea and snacks. Check-in and checkout are a breeze. Also walking distance to local restaurants.
